I have just got a 06 raptor 700r (50th ann) i was wondering what has been proven as the best exhaust out there for the 700 and a price range of course the yamaha tells me that the GYTR is the best, but ive heard otherwise i would like to know what everyone elses thoughts are?

The March 2006 issue of ATV Rider reviewed about a dozen different pipes for the Raptor 700. Be careful and read all the details of the tested configurations, but it is worth looking at. Their highest rating went to one of the least expensive systems, the Hindle Titanium Stealth full exhaust. List price was $432
I've got a LRD Performance exhaust and a Big Gun full exhaust on the way. Anybody know anything about these?

It also depends if you are going to leave the engine stock or not. Some pipes work better with the stock engine and others come alive with engine mods.

You're absolutely right. If it were "one size fits all" there would only be one pipe out there. Not many folks make the kind of mods that you have made or are in the works. How are the mods working for you? What issues are you still fighting to get the most out of your bike?

The stock fuel injector is the main hold up along with the cheezy stock rod. Three new aftermarket rods are being built as we speek though. What A LOT of people and builders don't understand is the efi. Sure they can build a reprogramer that remaps the ecu but you can only flow so much fuel through an injector. It can open only so far no matter how much voltage you throw at it... Also the oem head design is not very good. A lot of hp is going to be gained with the right valves and porting. In the next few months I hope to have most of the parts on and 70hp out of a non bigbore 700 and thats without the nos...

You're right. A LOT of people don't understand the EFI especially when you make radical performance changes. I've got a prototype fuel control on my Raptor. It's not like the other aftermarket fuel controls that simply tap into the injector pulse width to squirt more gas. This is a full replacement ECU that replaces the stock ECU. Difference is that it is fully programmable whereas stock ECU is fixed by the factory. It can squirt gas with the best but it also can also subtract fuel across entire operating range of engine. Since it is full replacement ECU it can also adjust timing. Best of all it can accommodate changes in injector size, radical cams, and a lot more. Lot of difference between piggyback fuel control and replacement ECU.
You've got a lot of work ahead. Hope it all pans out.
