I just took my new 800 out for a ride on some old gravel logging roads. I was wondering how far everybody was getting on a tank of gas. When I got back to the truck the ODO showed 50 miles and the gauge read 1/2 tank. I wasn't carrying any extra fuel so I turned around early to make sure I made it back. How accurate are the fuel gauges? are they linear? can you go 60 miles on the first half but only 20 on the second half?

 

Nobody out there has an 800? I guess it will be up to me to run the bike dry this sunday and report how many miles I get.

 

I have been over 100 miles, but never run it dry. I would be interested to know as well.

I ride pretty easy, only WFO every time I start off[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Be careful running the tank dry. Someone with more knowledge and info about the 800's fuel system weigh in here, but IF the fuel pump is in the tank, and/or IF the fuel serves as lubrication (like your car/truck), then running the tank dry MAY burn out the pump. Usually once or twice is not a problem, but be careful and be aware.

Running it pretty hard I had 60 miles on it before the low fuel light cam on. By the time we got back to the truck the light had went out. Should be able to put atleast 80 miles on a tank.

 

The only place I need full range is Colorado and since I bought my first Outy in November and the passes won't open back up till sometime in June, I won't be able to help much till then.
