4me,
i run regular but it depends on the additives in your state, our 87 is equivalent to 89-91 in ther states...not sure why or anything about it but this is what i was told a few times by different people...
there is no way i would get more than 70 miles before my light comes on...i rode 2 times last wk...1 times for 32 miles and the 2nd times for 28 and when i pulled it in the garage the light came on...so i woulod guess 70 miles would be tops be fore light...

87 is 87 is 87. There is no difference. The Octane standard is set by the SAE, at sea level. Now...altitude does make a difference. General rule of thumb is one octane point per 1000 feet of altitude. For example, if your vehicle requires 91 Octane, when operating at 5,000 feet, you can safely run it with 86 Octane (91-5).
Several have indicated their light comes on with a couple of bars showing but goes off after sitting, etc. Given the manufacturing differences between machines, when your light comes on, how much fuel does it then take to top off the tank? The tank is 5.3 gallons. Using that figure...how far can you go on a tank, given the type of driving you do, to take it to empty?

Anybody ran any hard MPG figures? Actually carefully measuring the amounts of gas it took to fill to a certain point etc? Judging from what I'm hearing I'm guessing it gets somewhere around 15 mpg or so?
I'd be really interested if anyone has checked to see what kind of actually miles per gallon they were getting in various riding situations.

my fuel has been great for an 800 and its so hard keeping off the gas!! my guage is wacked. when i picked it up there was no bars and no light? when i filled it up it only took 3.9 gallons? than with 2 bars it goes on? after i shut it off and restart no light? i cant figure it out. i did call my dealer who spoke to brp and they said they are having big issues with the guage as far as lights coimg on,speedo sticking, and fuel readings!
