help w/ 04 Arctic cat 90 4stroke
#1
On a recent trip to the dunes my daughters quad ( 04 arctic cat 90 4 stroke) started throwing the drive chain and the motor was shaking bad enough to have it actually hit the frame.I tightened the chain up and that part is fine but occasionally I can still hear the motor smack the frame. Is the anything I can do to stop this? I also noticed there is an empty bracket(?) under the motor. What is supposed to be there? I also noticed there is another empty bracket with a threaded bolt welded to it farther back on the frame in between the loop made by the chain.Whats supposed to be there? thanks in advance

Sounds like the motor mount bolts or mount is either broken or bolt fell out. The one with the nut welded to it on the left side sounds like the swingarm mount bolt that goes all the way thru from the other side it's about 14" long or so and holds the swingarm on. You need to fix the problem before you let her ride it again. If you wanna send me an email with a pic I can tell you what it is. It's just hard to help more without seeing it. tbrooks51@cebridge.net if you cant figure it out and wanna send a pic/pics.

Thanks for the help .I looked some more and I will try to describe it better. The motor mount is fine but there is a little (about 1 1/2 inches wide by maybe 3 inches) long arm that points towards the rear of the quad the end of it ha a u shape in it that held something, there is an mark in the paint from it. Maybe some kind of rubber bushing? It looks like if a bushing/spacer were in there it would prevent the motor from hitting the frame.
The swing arm bolt is also fine . The threaded nut (not bolt like i said in the last post) that is welded on looks like its in a good spot for a chain guide/tightener The bolt that would fit it would be kinda smallish (1/4" diameter or so). She also lost the vent tube thing for the transmission that week.I think I will go to the local Arctic Cat shop and take a look at a brand new 05 that they have to see whats missing and have them order it up I would send you pics but i have no digital camera and my scanner/printer/copier seems to be really tempermental and it doesn't want to work for me.Thanks again

Just a little update. I ordered all the parts I needed, except the bushing that keeps the motor from hitting the frame. The shop said they would be in by wednesday.
The mysterious bushing has no part # and is not in any of the parts diagrams. The parts guy said he would see what he could do for getting a new one.Well my daughter wanted to ride so I made a temporary fix for it. I went to an auto parts store .Found a suspension bushing for a chrysler that had a bolt sticking out the back of it.I purchased it for $ 8.99. Took it home and cut the thing in half (it was too tall) and it bolted right up just like it belonged there.I then took a very abusive ride on the quad and it held up perfectly.
