Default 400EX Engine oil?

Can I use Quaker State SAE 10W-40 friction reducer oil in my 400EX or do I have to buy special 4-Stroke oil?

Default 400EX Engine oil?

just changed my oil in a 02 400ex....went to the honda dealer to get the oil...i wouldnt just use that quaker state because the tranny and engine share the oil....u need to use 10w-40 without moly.....if u use oil with moly it will mess up your clutch....i suggest goin to the honda dealer to get it....its like 11 bucks a bottle but u only gotta do it twice....u will need 2 litres....it takes like 1.8

There are many reasons NOT to use car oils, especially the "energy/friction reducing" ones. These articles outline them:

Your best bet is to pick a motrocycle specific oil that is API SG/JASO MA. I prefer Maxima Extra, which is an ester based synthetic. Best oil out there!
