Default Is she gettin Hot?

Has anyone else just let the DS run and not had the fan come on? I haven't really checked much yet. I was wondering if that was normal?

Mine will come on when she's just idleing... I know I am a little lean at idle so it happens a lot for me... the cure is to get on and ride that biotch.

That depends on the temp. If it's real hot out mine will come on sooner than if it's not hot out. In colder weather I've had it idleing for at least 30 mins and not had the fan come on at all. But if your sitting on it and the insides of your calves can feel the heat the fan should be coming on @ that point. =/ just my .02¢

Your fan may not be working. Fan failure is a normal occurance with the earlier DSs before Bomb decidid to rubber mount the assy.

the fan switch is coming out of the back of the thermostat housing, it has two wires connected with spade terminals - if you remove them and then jumper them together (a flat fuse works, having two flats, one for each terminal) the fan should come on. if it doesn't it is dead.

OK the fan does come on. I tried the DS out this weekend. I am having a problem with mub getting into the fins and then drying causing blockage and it to over heat. Is there some sort of schroud to purchase? Does engine ice work? I don't think you guys in the sand have to worry so much about that? It's a pain with the mud. I know it can be fixed by not going to fast thru the mud, some times you can't help to. Any help?

OK, So I should get a shroud and wrap the exhaust and engine Ice just as I thought. What about Engine Ice? Does that help? Also, in my search there is mention of a Cooler? Where do I find one and Or all of the parts at a good deal?

Engine ice works good but if you ever boil your radiator you have to flush the whole system and replace the engine ice it losses all of it's thermal transfer once it has been boiled over I learned this from one of their race techs.
As for the wrapping of the head pipe if you are getting it wet alot it might rust the heck out of your head pipe at a accelerated rate being that it is wrapped.
Hope this helps.
