here's a question: What do you do to prepare for the holeshot?

seeing that none of us probably race in the same series, we can probably afford to share some advice. so, what do you do? referring to concrete and dirt pads with gates. how do you practice? any rituals before your moto while on the line?

I put on an ASV clutch lever, and have been grabbing hole shots ever sinse. I don't know why lever made a difference, but in 6 races I have had 5 holehots.

Keep the RPM's in the meat of the power and ease the clutch out. Just dumping the clutch at high RPM doesn't do alot for holeshots.

I found that doing a warm up holeshot on my way to the starting line helps to ensure I'm in the right gear. Also, I found that my quad does way better starting in 2nd gear from the hole shot.

Watch the pin and you'll win.
Watch the gate and you'll be late.

This is good advice and that is what I do. When you see that little pin drop nail it!

Other things to do, is typically you want to start off in 2nd gear, and sit up on the gas tank. Feather the clutch until you get out of the hole and hold it wide open all the way into the first corner as you dive in.
