Right now im currently restoring a 1986 Suzuki LT230 Quadsport. It was given to me and my brother from my grandfather because hes getting old and he has no time to take care of it at his farm. Anyways my brother is in college at Central Michigan so ive been putting all of the little money that i have into it. (dont worry ill get some money outta him! hahah). Im in the small engines class at my high school so ive been working on it there in shop. here are the things that i have done....(most were necessary, but not all)
-----Appearance---
1. sanded, primed, and repainted the bumper, headlight housing, and grab bar with black spray paint.
2. bead blasted the whole exhaust and repainted with high temperature black paint.
----engine necessities---
1. new air filter and cleaned air box
2. new honda cycle oil
3. replaced a missing mounting bolt and nut (to be safe) hahah
4. cleaned and re lubricated drive chain
5. de-glazed the cylinder
6. brand new piston rings (old ones were TERRIBLE to say the least)
7. cam chain tensioner was stuck so fixed that and made a new gasket.
8. replaced an o-ring that was in bad shape on carb.
9. new head gasket
----TOTAL-----
~$84!!!!!!!!
didnt buy anything that wasnt needed, so now im gonna have a nice looking and running quad that only cost me 84 buckaroos. sounds great to me!
im waiting on the headgasket to be shipped and as soon is i get that im gonna have it all rady to ride.
