It's normal for the yfm350 to have a ticky top end even with the valves adjusted to specs. I think it's mostly because they have 2 large valves instead of 4 (or 5) smaller ones like the more modern engines.

Default 350 air cooled engines noisy?

I have an 05 350Raptor and it didnt make any noise. After a while it started and I had to adjust them quite a bit. It took a while before I adjusted them every ride.It wont hurt it to run them that way.I replaced them and they dont make any sound at all. Oh, try changeing the timing chain first if you decide to change anything. I had to change them both, but like I said, it wont hurt it to run it that way for a while, but when I changed them tere wasnt ANY valve ticking sound. My dealer told me they sound like that too. But I changed them to see what would happen. Hope this helped.
