350 air cooled engines noisy?
#1
hello just a quick question i have two 350 quads warrior and a bruin both these engines have some valve noise like ticking sound varys at different rpms is this normal for the 350's? not real loud but i can notice it, both run great never had any problems with them just thought i would check to see about other people that have 350's if yours had any valve noise? dealer told me the air cooled motors that is normal? thanks

It's normal for the yfm350 to have a ticky top end even with the valves adjusted to specs. I think it's mostly because they have 2 large valves instead of 4 (or 5) smaller ones like the more modern engines.

I have an 05 350Raptor and it didnt make any noise. After a while it started and I had to adjust them quite a bit. It took a while before I adjusted them every ride.It wont hurt it to run them that way.I replaced them and they dont make any sound at all. Oh, try changeing the timing chain first if you decide to change anything. I had to change them both, but like I said, it wont hurt it to run it that way for a while, but when I changed them tere wasnt ANY valve ticking sound. My dealer told me they sound like that too. But I changed them to see what would happen. Hope this helped.
