dealer says 250 trailblazer clutch is same as my 1999 400 4x4 scrambler. Is he correct?

I need a new clutch for my 400 scrambler. The dealer didn't have one in stock. He has a clutch for a 250 trail blazer that he says is the same as my 400. Physically it does look the same, I just have to add the weights and spring to it from my original clutch. He said the only thing different is the part numbers. After spending $360.00 I would like to think I received the right one. It seems to me that the less powerfull 250 clutch may not be as strong as the 400 clutch. I needed it now so I went with what he told me and bought it. I called a couple of other dealers and EPI clutch company but they didn't know if there was a differance either. If any one knows if its the same or who I can talk to, to find out for sure, please respond. Thanks... Todd

I think there is spring and weight differences.
400 should have a white primary spring, red secondary (2-2 setting) and a 40 deg helix with 55 gm weights... at least on a 2000 sc400 2x4.

Looks like you've got the answers already. But for future reference, I would use either of these sites just to compare part numbers. You'd be suprised how many parts will work from different models.

I would still shop around on pricing. I have gotten things cheaper from the dealer than these sites. But they are excellent for referrencing.

Now that chedder got his answer and we're on the subject......whats the differance between the 700 and 800 clutches? I read about people wanting to buy an 800 clutch for their 700s. I have never seen a 700 clutch , but the clutch on my 800 doesnt look like anything special.

The 800 has a smaller diameter at the bottom of the sheaves for a lower gear at take off.
All twins have them for 2006 i beleive, as with the TEAM secondary too.
They keep upgrading them every year...
