03 Foreman Starting/Running Problems
#1
My Foreman wont run now. I had my mechanic at my golf course adjust the valves on my wheeler a week ago or so and it started to act funny a couple days later. It wouldnt idle and I had to really give it gas to get it to start. Then I went riding and it stalled when I came to a stop like it had been only now it wouldnt start at all. Played around for a bit and drained the battery down so I thought Id try to pull start it and boom, first try it started right up? Did this again later til finally it stalled once and then wouldnt start again. Seemed to have slight loss of power all the while. Could it be a bad valve adjustment? Or is this something different?

I suppose it could be a tight valve, but sounds more like a carb and battery issue.
If its hard to start when using the starter motor, but starts fine with the rope pull, check the battery and connections. Voltage is probably dropping too far under load. If the connections look good, have the battery load tested. Any auto parts store will do this for free.
The stalling could be a low idle speed, or the mixture screw may be leaned out too much. Did he do any carb fiddling while he had it?

Thanks hondabuster,
I took the carb out earlier tonight and cleaned everything and then checked my valves and at top dead the exhaust valve had no lash what so ever and the intake was probable .001 so I did a quick adjustment to .006, put everything back together and it fired right up like new. Dont know if was just the valves or a combination of the two. The carb had some crud in it but nothing in the points or jets so I dont know. Either way shes runnin like new now so Im good to go. Thanks again though!!
