Well, your going to get biased opinions. But for trail riding, I would look closely at that raptor. Its lighter also. Not to swing you away from the Ds, but its a good quad as well.

You won't be dissappointed with a DS, if you are a big fella you will love the comfort, and if you need to go a bit faster than stock then there are many on this forum to head you in the right direction Get off a DS and onto a rappy or YFZ and it is like getting on a kids quad. I have no troubles on tracks with my DS although sometimes I do widen the tracks, not by choice. 07 models will be released soon, wait and see what we will get !!!!

The Rapter has it's good points fuel injection it's lighter there are quite alot of after market parts out there......but on the down side you would be hanging out on the yamaha forum. The DS is about comfort and it has plenty of power......there is alot of after market for the DS as well.......and you can hang out with the best bunch of guys on the forum....I can't think of a down side

well....i ride with a few guys that have these optoins you are talking about...

so lets see..the rappy is nice, lighter but to me rides like a piece of poop..efi means nothing if your ride sucks...

the yfz is great! very small and very nice, snappy...it is VERY small we joke with this guys and tell him to return it to toys r us...the seat is very small and narrow..makes for a very uncomfortable ride..

now the DS...which i own, its heavy but i cant get back on it fast enough when we switch rides...my seat is like a fluffy couch and the suspension is out of this world soft..i can ride for hrs no problems..we rode for 8 hr and 70 miles last wk and i had no issues...

if i had a choice it would be between the 450 and the ds, i just hate the ride of the rappy..

are you big/ fat/ tall/ small/weak/strong/old/young...these factors play a big part

I can say this without fear. My cousin just got a yfz450 and i sat on it yesterday and it felt like the seat was made of wood, I thought my predator was bad wow. I hav'nt had a chance to ride it yet but can say this too, I am a small guy 5'8" 150lbs and when I saw it it seemed really small and when I sat on it, it seemed even smaller. I hav'nt got to ride it yet, but no matter how fast it may be it just seems like a kids quad. If my cousin thinks that will be fun to ride considering he weighs 270lbs oh boy, bad thing is I will still smoke him lol. I don't think that 450 will be any faster than his kfx700 with him on it.

You might want to hold off for a little while. I am looking for a sport quad myself and have been debating between the Raptor and the 650. I am 6'6" and 350 and the Raptor is too small. However, I have an Outlander 800, so I am looking for something with serious *****.

The new Renegade looks like it will be a lot of fun. The same 800 engine, but with better suspension. I called Bombardier to see if I could get them to tell me if any mods to the 650 were in the works or if there was anything else coming out.

The guy couldn't tell me much, but apparetnly Can-Am (Bombardier) has informed its dealers that they will be announcing a full race quad (2WD sport) in "the near future." Of course, when I asked my dealer, they knew nothing. I'm going to wait and see. In the meantime, I'll keep fooling around on my Outlander.
