07 Z400 VS 07 CAN AM DS 650x
#1
I have a 07 LTZ 400 and my buddy just picked up a New 07 DS 650x. Is there any thing I can do that will make my z400 run with his? We raced and 1,2,3 neck and neck then the DS 650x starts pulling away. My bike is stock. I removed my spark arrester. Do I need to rejet my carb? I want exhaust and change my front sprocket. Should I go up a tooth or down one? Thanks for any info.

You can change the main jet to a little bigger size. 130 MAIN stock if I remember correctly. Try a 135 main. When you race this guy, what gear do you start off with? If your starting with 1st , then your wasting your time. Try dumping the clutch in 2nd gear if you haven't already.

Your giving up a lot of CC's to the DS. I don't think anything short of a big bore kit is going to help you much. I have a hard time believing you stuck with him til 3rd. Once your buddy learns how to make the DS move your going to have an even tougher time keeping up
PS - Keep him away from the Can-am forum if you dont want him going any faster....

LOL! How long has anyone ever kept their 650 stock?
Honestly, the only thing the 400 has over the DS is weight. And like DS said, once they start working on them, they only get faster.
