Cranks and then back fires ( wont start )
#1
Ok so here is the deal, Just put in a new clutch saturday and took it out for a spin. Everything seemed to be fine except for the clutch adj. Then i noticed the rev. light was comming on while it was idling. I turned off the bike and then it wouldnt start again. It started to make some not so good noises so i checked everything i could without tearing apart the motor. One thing i didnt like was that the fly wheel nut was loose. I tightened it and it stopped making the awfull noises. Now all it does is crank over and back fires. I thought the cops were going to be called from how loud it was. Im starting to lean on the timing is totally out of wack, like the timing key was probably sheared off. Please help guys...

A sheared flywheel key is the first thing I thought of, before getting to the end of your post. That would explain the backfire, since the flywheel would no longer be in time and this would cause the plug to fire at the wrong time.
You need to pull the flywheel back off and check the shear key, before doing anything else. If it was loose enough to be making noise, I'd say it did a number on the key.

Well after i wrote the last comment i went out and took the cover off. It was the key, it sheared right off. I put it all back together with the stock key and it started right up. I didnt mention before, but the sheared key was a vitos adv. timing key. If any one else reads this, dont waist your time and money on getting one. I only had it in for about 6 months which is about 30 hours of riding.
