Hey guys,
just read it. Polaris and Matt Smiley are done. Sucks to lose their pro guy this late in the season, but what can you do. Suppose he wasn't doing that well anyway tho really... Just thought you folks should know...
P.S. Me and some friends (3 preds, 1 YFZ) are starting a team for the michigan XC series... maybe some day one of us could take smiley's place lol *keeps on dreaming*

I think the compatition is just getting better and he isn't keeping up. He is one of the older riders and these young guns are just taking over. He did well last year, and even tho he was on the Outlaw at the start, he ran the Pred the last 4 races and really didn't do any better. The Pred hasn't changed and neither has the others, but the compatition has changed a lot. I can't see him doing any better on a Honda or Yamaha. If he does, it will be only once or twice and not consistant. If you look at his lap times when he was on the Pred, he's not even close to the front runners. I hope the best for him.

Polaris and Matt Smiley Reach Agreement for Remainder of the 2006
He's back with Polaris. Got this from other web site.
GNCC Pro, Matt Smiley
Minneapolis, MN (6/9/06) - Polaris and Matt Smiley are once again on the same team as they have reached an agreement for the remainder of the 2006 GNCC racing season. Matt Smiley will be racing the Polaris Predator at the Sparta GNCC this weekend in Sparta, KY, and when asked about the remainder of season, Smiley replied "I am going to do my best to put Polaris back on the Podium."
ATVriders.com will be racing both the Polaris Outlaw & Predator this weekend at Sparta during the Morning Race. ATVriders.com own Harlen Foley will be racing along with former Sparta Pro Overall winner, Jeff Stoess. The pair will be racing in the Sportsman Class on almost completely stock machines besides the addition of Tireballs, which will prevent the risk of receiving a flat tire during the race.

It's all about the Outlaw.
Unill Polaris agreed to let him race the Pred he was not going to race at all.
Part of the reson he's not been any better on the Pred than he was on the Outlaw was because they spent ZERO time making the Pred any better for competition. All R&D was going into the Outlaw and all his seat time was on the Outlaw too until he switched over for the last few races.
I can't blame him one bit, I rode the Outlaw and hated it. I could not imagine racing that thing at high speeds.
