Default unleashing the raptors power

i was just wondering, i am looking into getting a raptor cause its nice and big and great for trails, but y are the 450s so fast compared to the raptor. Is there anyway to unleash all the raptors power, like is there a stock part that isnt good, cause all though i do trail ridng i still want a fast quad i cant decide whether to get a raptor or 450 and even if i get a raptor i was wondering y the raptors arent alot faster than the 450s. I always hear, no replacement for displacement, but is that true in this case

Hey boy. In a drag race the 700 will win stock for stock or mod for mod.

The 450 is designed for the track. The 700 is an all around quad.

If your gonna go to the track, get the 450. If your gonna do a lil bit of everything get the 700. Reverse is a luxury, the fuel injection is awesome.

One last thing to consider is the control and seating arangement. GO sit on both of them and that alone will prolly make your decision for you. 450 is too cramped for me.

yea i will most likely go with the raptor for its room and versatility, is there any mods i can put on it that arent that expensive (no inside the engine mods and not overly expensive), and this would be a raptor 660 cause im not doin to good financially.

660 really wakes up with a pipe but you may not have the 500 bucks to do it. Go with a 125 dollar pro-design clamp on filter kit w/ adapter and remove your airbox lid and rejet. This will yield you a few more hp without much investment. A 12 tooth front sprocket really helps in the accelleration department as well.

Sorry to give you some bad news. The 700 will NOT win in a drag race stock for stock

I've always heard good things about craycraft racing. He is suppose to be really good at getting more horsepower out of a raptor.

actually it will. i have raced a friend's 06 yfz when we were both stock and i beat him. we tried it with 3 other riders and the 700 beat the yfz almost everytime to varying degrees. after that we both removed our spark arrestors and installed intake kits (he got the pro-flow, i have the gytr). he had his bike jetted accordingly and i bought a PCIII. once again, the raptor beat the yfz 9 times out of 10. now i have a DMC full pipe and generic settings on the PCIII as there is not an available map for it yet and it is no contest. the only problem i've noticed with draggin the raptor is that as the power has increased, it has been more difficult to keep the front end down. now if i catch traction in 1st or 2nd gear, it doesn't just pull up the front end, it tries to eject me from the bike altogether.

after running the yfz quite a few times i can say this with certainty. they yfz is easier to drag race than the raptor by far. admittedly it has crap for lowend torque but that is what makes it so easy to race (you don't have to worry about it throwing you off). if you give it enough revs so that is doesn't bog off the line you just wind it out and shift. no big deal. on the other hand, the raptor does take a bit more attention to get a proper run. you have to short shift like you would a big V8 as it starts to die off around 6500 and you have to worry about keeping to front end down. if you can do both then you should have no problem beating a yfz in a straight line, mod for mod.

if you don't believe me there are a few ex-yfz owners that have bought 700's and are saying the same thing. the yfz is an awesome bike and should have not problems dispatching a raptor on an mx track but it will loose to a raptor in a straight line. the bikes are just designed for different things. if you want to hammer the track, get the yfz. if you want to do everything else, get the raptor.
