LTR 450, yfz 450, or trx 450r

Pick up the June 06 Dirt Wheels magazine there is a 'fair' comparison.
It basically depends what type of riding you do and how deep your pocket are.
I personally have a Honda 450R and love it but, I have not riden the Yamaha or Suzuki.
Enjoy your purchase what ever color you choose!

I looked and read about all of them. Each has it's good points but I went with the Honda. First cause it's a Honda. Second it's got the best engine and when you uncork one look out.
I'm going hunting for some YFZ's this weekend! MR450Cooper keep up the good work!!

the Honda 450R has higher compression, and i have raved the YFZ, and we was clocked as the speed...which is the honda 450R beats YFZ by 5 mph, the honda went 81, and the yfz went 76 mph, becuase the honda has new higher compression and has tall 1st gear..., it was all stock, my brother has YFZ and, i own 450R's
2006 honda 450R, just telling ya, they are hella fast and cheaper then the yamaha's

the r450 has very smooth power and is "motocross ready". so if racing, id go with that. if you are trail riding stay far away from it as it is sooo wide. the 450r is faster, and a little skinnier, which makes it a good inbetween quad. if you are doing a little of everything id go honda. of course, i ride a honda, so i am a little biased

Dirt Wheels March 06, 450 is 1 mph faster on top end then the Yamaha, the Yamaha has the 450r by 1 mph in every gear except the last...

ltr 450 is good for race track, low ground clearance, least power of the bunch (stock)
450R has worst suspension, the most power, good for trail riding
yfz 450 great power (close to 450r), nice suspension but stiff on trails, very good center of gravity stays on all 4s when you want it to.
If you want to race look at 450s. for trails Id go with something else, with REVERSE!!!

Personally, I would go Suzuki first and throw some taller tires on it. Unless you ride a lot of tight tight trails. Then Yamaha, then Honda. Of course, Kaw has just announced a 450, and there may be others in the works. As it stands right now though, that is the order I prefer.
