outy 800 or new 650? Help decide please
#1
I'm committed to the outy's. I love the 3- 400 ho's I have now and will be adding one more to the fleet. I've been looking at the 800 XT and like what I see. Has anyone put any time on the 650xt? Any reason I should look past it and just buy the 800? I'm not a speed freak but do like to play. I appreciate gobs of useable power in the tight stuff as well as rock crawling. We hit the dunes a couple times a year but not anymore than that. I'm sure both machines would fit the bill. How much of a sacrifice would taking the 650 be if any? Any benefits of the 650? I'm a little concerned of a first year machine though it's nearly Identical to the 800 and maybe a bit more reliable.
Hell- I don't know I have $9500 bucks to burn for a machine out the door. 800XT or a 650XT and skids?

650 is actually 10 lbs heavier than the 800...
why get a 650, when there is an 800...be on top...there are plenty of things you can be just middle of the road on that you cant control...
i have one and almost got the 650 just like you...best thing i ever did was be greedy and want to kick azz...i fall in love with the endless power ever time i ride

If I remember correctly there is only a few hundred difference between the two so I would think the better value would be the 800,
When the day ever comes that you should have to sell it the 800 will be worth more.

Good points-
I'd really like to get that renagade but can't wait that long. I have quad trips planned all summer.
The 800 Hundred will only be top dog until the 1000 comes out I bet the price on the 800 drops like a rock then. It will be interesting to see what kind of resale value it holds.
The local dealer hesitently accepted my offer of $9500 out the door. Makes me wish I offered less. Any idea what the dealer pays for these machines?

It's my understanding that some states like MN and Wisc. have OHV regulations that would require different registration/licensing of an ORV over 800cc's. This might mean we won't see anything over 800 cc's in a regular ATV although maybe in the two seater Mule/Rhino's they might make them larger. Shoot my stock DS650 has pretty darn impressive power as it is and I'm just waiting on the Renegade 800, can only imagine.

You bring up a great point. I couldn't find the list I have showing every state.
In Minnesota it is less than 800cc's and less than 900 pounds dry weight.
I had a guy tell me the other day that there aren't any 800cc quads up in his area but there where a lot of 799cc Outlanders there.
