i am thinking of buying a 1999 scrambler 500 4*4.
i know the 2001 is a better machine as far as the steering and stuff but i can get a pretty good deal on the '99. if i bought it and had problems could i use 2001 steering parts to fix the problem?? if i could have my way i would have a sportsman and a modified sport quad but i cant afford both with my other toys so i have to compromise. i appreciate any help anyone can give me!! thanks again

Yes you can upgrade the steering components to the newer ones. They bolt right in place of the old style. Did it this summer on my 98. HTH
