Default New Carb?

Hey guys, I just recently got my '02 DS650. I love it! But, I was wondering, what would be a good carb. to get more power? I do all trail-riding, and I ride a lot! I have never done much of my own work to my ATV's, but I would love to start. Where can I get a manual, that tells me how to properly do an oil/filter change, maintenance, torque settings, etc.? What would it all take to do this carb swap? Also, I have a White Brothers R4 slip-on, on my bike already, but It is looking pretty beat up. I want to change to a Yosh. slip-on. Would I have to re-jet? Thanks guys! -JW

Runs a 730 kit from OMW with web109's and a 48mm lectron. It has some serious torque!

you should buy a shop manual, cost me 75 bucks but it was worth it. if u have the money from what i hear 46mm lectrons are the best, very pricey tho, and if u want a new exhaust i would reccomend a topgun, suppose to put out more power than any name brand slip on and its only 250 bucks. go to ondunes.com or hpresearch.net

If you trail ride allot and dont have noise regulations i would get the yoshimura slipon....you do not have to rejet but to get full power i would. I run a 177.5 mikuni main jet ( stock is 165). The yoshi pipe has insane bottom and mid range power. I would also get the tm45 carb as it seems to have more bottom end power than the lectrons.

Well, It was re-jetted when it had the WB slip-on put on it. Thanks for the help so far guys! I'm def. getting a shop manual, yosh. slip-on, and any other opinions about the carb? What all do I have to do to replace the carb? Do I have to tune it? I think I would be ok tuning... if it is anything like tuning nitro engines on r/c cars haha. That is one thing I am good at!

i think all you need for the TM45 Mikuni carb is a new throtte cable...it squeezes into the stock carb boots.

Most companies that offer the carbs will ask about your set up and get you tuned in close. However the more you read on here, the more you will realize that tuning is a never ending game. If you are on vacation for a week, to get max power and performance, you may be tuning 2 or 3 times a day. Sometimes not, but you could. Most of the carbs will not hurt anything if things change on you, you just lose power
