What happens if i change my air filter?

I was going to change my air filter on my banshee and I've heard that alot of people change there air filter from the stock one to a K&N filter. What dose that do, dose it add any horse power or anything like that. Thanks for the help.

K&N filters and other High flow filters simply allow more air into the motor. Which then reguires you to rejet to provide more fuel and gives you more power. Pipe, high flow filter, open airbox and rejeting are the most common mods and together make a nice power increase. Not sure just a K&N in a closed air box and stock pipe would make much of a difference.

if you change your air-filter, then you will have a better one...how was that. j/k. you will notice a little difference in the response of the banshee and the horsepower and torque may increase. it all depends on the filters and all the other parts you would need to upgrade. if you upgrade the filter, that is nice, but the true power come from upgrading the exhaust on a 2stroker like yours and also, change to power reeds. there is a lot you can do.
about the filter though. depending on the riding you do, dirt or trail, kind of depends on the filter. some might argue, but, that is life. if you do more trail riding then dirt, the k&n would be a good choice. the filter is a paper filter that allows more air to breath through the filter then stock. they will need to be oiled with a k&n precharger kit or else dirt will get into the intake throught the filter. if you do a lot of sand and dirt riding, you can use the same k&n filter, but you will need a prefilter for that. the paper filters clog up fast due to the filter material and the ability to breath faster. foam filters are still good and filter out sand and dust better then k&n, but do not breath as easily, but that my not be noticable. a twin air filter is always a good choice for a foam filter for a 2 stroke as well as others. i will leave that all up to you. that is my suggestions and some info to help you out. let me know if you need clearifying on anything else or post a new message.
