'06 Raptor 50, runs and quits?
#1
My son has a 50 with 15 hours on it. Recently it quits within 20 minutes of riding the past two weekends. Anyone have this problem and have resolved it? Seems electrical??
Thanks in advance for any info!
Did replace the cdi bix with a procom (What an improvement?) This issue happened with the old and new box.

first two things I'd check are the jetting/ carb may need cleaning. second is the tether cord on the back grab bar, that even slightly coming loose will cause the quad to quit. good luck. let us know how you made out.

I have a 05 for my daughter ( tring to sell it now) but check the tether cord on the back. Hers would shut off and I traced to that. The wires weren't connected very well. I would move the connector and it would fire right up.
That should fix your problem. If not, then you have something more serious at hand.

Thanks for the information. The wiring and the lanyard were okay. After taking it to the dealer it was "water in the tank". Only on the second tank of gas. Filled up my Grizzly 660 at the same times with no issue.
My son has done some riding with me in 4-6" of water???? Anyone with a Raptor 50 have any issues with water mysteriouly being in the tank/lines?
Thanks,
Rod

The only time we ever had a water problem with my kids Raptor 50 was when it took a tires up bath in the river. Changed the oil (several times) and cleaned the carb and it fired right up. Didn't even bother with the gas, same tank of gas went through great.
Sounds like the Raptor 50 got the water out of your gas can and the Grizzly got the good gas

Mystery of my son's 50 is resolved, it needs a SNORKLE!
After the dealer determined I had water in the gas, which was a mystery to how it happened, I picked it up and headed to the trails. Within 1.5 hours of riding it stalled out no less than 15 times with a final puff of white smoke out the exhaust going up the last hill. From there it had to be towed back to the trailer. YUCK!
I took it back to the dealer, the mechanic saw that it was trying to fire but would not run. He decided to drain some gas and immediately we saw some water drain out.
We removed the air filter and found 3 inches of water in the bottom of the air filter box along with a soaked filter. The water was being splashed in through the intake holes on each side of the air intake.
WHAT A BAD DESIGN!! My son has only driven through water that is 2"-6" deep. Obviously the splash easily gets to the air filter and thus the carb when you hit a bump or go up a hill?
Has any 50 owners solved this issue? I hate to tell my son he can never go through water as we do ride in a place that has a shallow creek which we enjoy.
Thanks in advance for any help!
