The type of paddle tire depends on what type of riding you're gonna be doing. For straight-line hook-up Skat Trak Haulers are the best in my opinion. I have a set of 21" x 12" x 8" 8-paddle Haulers on my '06 450R and they work fine. For better turning ability the v-shaped paddles are the ticket.

how much difference does a straight paddle vs a v-shaped paddle make in a drag and does a v-shaped paddle really handle that much better. I plan to mainly just be riding in the dunes and occasional creek, but I would like to be able to compete in the occasional drag race.

My opinion is the straight paddle. mine are 20" 10paddle 22"are nice for more clearance most of the time the haulers are lighter than the v paddles because they are not a moulded rubber

Juice, in a drag race with equal bikes and equal riders my money would be on the bike with straight paddles. For just playing around and the occasional drag race the v-paddles should suit you just fine. I see you're from Baton Rouge...I have a set of 21 x 12 x 8 8 paddle haulers and wheels I'll sell for $25.00. One of em is pretty raggedy. It has a slow leak and each paddle has a little cut in it from hitting the end of my drag pipe when I had them on my 250R. PM me or email me if you're interested.
