Default New `02 Grizzly 660 owner

Hello to the forum,

I recently got a used Grizzly and am getting sorted out on the machine. I have been riding a Polaris 6x6 for about 4 years and have learned to do major and minor maintenance on it with the help of guys on the Polaris section. Likely, I will not have to do as much to my new machine. The power is Very Impressive and the suspension is Great. The Griz has Mud Lites on it so should be good in the swamp holes and bogs we encounter on trails up here.

Anyway, I plan to do a lubrication service on the machine this weekend. I am a little confused about the oil situation. What I have read on forums is "use yamalube or SF/SG rated oils only". The local dealer told me today that the 02 Grizzly, "does not have a wet clutch so use whatever oil you want". I was unable to find any SG rated oil today other than straight 30 weight.

I have the small owners manual and it is very little help. The only SG rated oil I have on hand is some Castrol 5/30 dino oil. I would like to run Castrol GTX 10/30. There are a couple of other dealers I can call, but the service guy ought to know his stuff, right?

Any `02 Grizzly owners out there who can tell me if they run SH-SM oils in their rigs?

Thanks again. Have enjoyed reading the posts on this board.
