Default mystery wire by oil filter?

Well I just got back from the dunes so I thought I'd change the oil. Aside from the usual huge mess, I noticed that when I removed the oil filter cover, that I had mashed some kind of insulated wire between the filter cover and the engine case while changing oil the last time. This wire is on the right side of the filter cover, right behind the right hand screw that holds the cover on. I hate to admit to doing a dumb sh*t thing like this, but now I'm worried. Does anyone know what this wire is? Thanks!

Ditto that. . . neutral sender.

Single wire. . . Yellow if I remember right.
