how fast is your 500 Ho?
#2
61 mph on a longggggg black top road with the GPS. It is reasonably quick up to 50 slower to 55 and the last 5 or 6 miles per hour takes a bit.
Maybe there is a cpu tweak or timing adjustment that could coax some more speed out of the 500HO - they are not as fast as the 2003 models - with their larger tires and clutch tuning - I think the key is in the timing.

56mph is the fastest I've gotten mine .. dont know if it's the wind holding her back on the windshield, but like someone else said .. 0 - 50 is very fast .. beyond 50 it just creeps .. it's like there's a shoot that deploys, holding you back after 50 ...

I’m proud that almost everyone gave you an accurate range of what can be expected for the top speed of a 500 H.O.!
Usually we get a bunch of people giving numbers of how fast they think they are going instead of how fast they REALLY are going.
Mine does 56 on a flat paved road on GPS

my 01 67 with K&N(yes it did help!), the 05(turtle) goes about 55. I now know that the 05 and up are slower becuase of the bigger tires and more aggressive tread, they also geared down the trans for more low end and to accomidate the tires. This is word of mouth and it seems very logical for an explaination. Brian

I might have to get a K & N for my bike next time I change the filter. I've heard that the rev limiter on these is set to 6800 or thereabouts and I haven't been able to get past 6400 or thereabouts .. maybe the extra little oomph might get me to 57
