Default Can I lower my Rincon?

Is there a way to lower the Rincon? What would happen if I switched to more of a sport quad type wheel/tire like they did on the upcoming Renegade from BRP??

I have been running ITP Holeshot ATR's (same tires that come on the new Renegade) for many years now. They are on some nice ITP rims that have a considerably greater offset than stock (so the quad is wider and more stable), and way lighter. It makes it a whole different, more sporty machine than stock!!!

Not sure what you are running now, so not sure what a set of 25" ATR's would do on your machine???? But, the ATR's are a good tire for the kind of mixed riding you find in Calif. (excellent snow tire!).

Also, you could sag your springs a little, and/or get some lower aftermarket springs (but you will lose travel). What I dislike about IRS machines is the BODY ROLL. But if you get the springs to soft, it is just going to get worse.

What size ATR's come on the Renegade??? I could not get the specs to open on the Can Am web site. ITP lists 25 and 26", but did they make some shorter ones for the Renegade?

If 25" is stock on the Rincon, you could go with someting like a set of 22" (both front and rear because of the 4wd!) sport quad tires. That would lower your like 1.5 inches. Maybe Holeshot XCTs in back and XC's in front, or for a more sporty ride maybe some new ITP Trac Star radials (these run short though).

Thing is, you can easily find a REAR sport quad rim that has a 4/110 bolt pattern, but I don't know if anybody makes a 4/110 drilled 10X5" FRONT rim to fit a sport tire?????

Thanks...22" sounds like the size I'd probably go with.

A 10inch rim will never clear the front brakes on either disc's or drums.

I assume you want to lower the machine for some more stability in turns???? Consider that WIDENING it will have the same effect. My Rancher is +4" wider with the ITP Holeshot ATR's and ITP 12X7" rims (which have a greater offset than stock). And, I don't have to give up any ground clearance.

I don't know what the stock tires/rims are like on the Rincon. They are radials, right? The ATR's completely transformed the little Rancher. It is a whole different machine by just changing out the tires!

Yes, trying to get a little more stability, have a lady friend who's new to riding and it's been an annoyance more then anything for her and a few times for myself. Will the holeshot ATR's run on my wheels or do I need to replace them as well? I'm very interested in doing this if it does work or provide the desired results, don't want to mess with the suspension or anything. Even if it's a 20% improvement in handling then it's worth it.

Thanks again for your input.

The big thing about the ITP rims is the greater OFFSET, which is where you get the extra width. So, I don't think just putting different tires on the stock rims is going to be much of a change, without changing the rims out as well. (It gets expensive!) The ATR rears are a little sketchy on hardpack (the traction blocks are very widely spaced), when in 2wd. But in 4wd, the front/rear tire combination is superb.

I have the older ITP Magnum rims, the predecessor to the current C-Series rims. They are WAY light (but a bit fragile for highly technical riding, so I have to by real careful), and I will shed a tear the day I have to replace them with something else that is heavier.

Thanks, something I'll have to think about.

Hi Mike. I have been reading this thread to see what the experts will rec'm and for the education. Seems to me that the Rincon is a great handling quad for most riders but has marginal ground clearance plus it is already 46.8 in wide. So any mods that either lower or widen the quad could compromise a very good overall package in rough/tight situations.
So how about the option of looking for stiffer sidewall tires that will reduce the roll. If that is not realistic then how about showing the GF about body position (I am talking about in the turns). Just moving around on your ride can make a very big diff.
These guys at http://www.rinconriders.com/? are very enthusiastic about Rinnys and you should get more participation on your question than here. Hope this helps. The OT.
