Default 2001 Sp500 HO help.

I have a 2001 SP 500 that I'm needing to sell. My problems are, the speedo doesn't work right. Sometimes it just goes nuts and says your going like 60 when your not moving at all. Sometimes it seems to work fine. Is it the hud censor in the front wheel?
Next problem is it will not run in reverse with out holding the override button in. It won't even idle while in reverse with out holding it. I wonder if its related to the speedo problem.
Lastly, it squeaks alot in the front end. I'm the origanal owner and have always kept it serviced good. I've tried to spray w-40 on the front spring tops and it seems to help but it never really goes away.
These 3 problems have seemed to keep me from selling it so far, and I would like to fix them so I don't have to give it away in order to sell it. So if anyone could at least give me some good ideas, it would be much appricated.

By the way, I love the quad, but I'm looking to replace it with a Kubota B7610 with a loader and mower.

THANKS !!!!

How much?

Have you tried putting grease in all of the grease zerks?

Does the AWD work? If the Speedo is not functioning at all it will cause the AWD to not function. The wheel speed sensor is on the front right hub.

Those speedo's are notoriously junk. on my 02 it went out at 300 miles -dealer replaced it and it crapped out again about 200 miles later-i don't really care how fast i'm going as long as my 4WD works. You should check to see if the 4WD is working, sounds like yours isn't. you can try the hub sensor- i've replaced mine twice and it didn't help. the speedo's have 4WD electronics in them and the reverse overide stuff. As for the squeeking spring top- take the top of the spring apart-out of the mount and put a coat of marine (water prroof) grease on the round plastic pivot ball, it should stop creeking for a while. Good luck!

First of all the spedometer... Try moving the splices around coming up to the spedometer. Also sometimes the wire connection to the sensor will be rubbing against the coil in the hub and give odd readings, like how you say it says your going 60 but not moving.

Again, the reverse problem, try messing with the spilces and wires leading up and out of the spedometer. I have never heard of reverse really being afftected by the sped though...

Next. Never use WD-40 on anything that you want to stop squeeking or keep water out. Always use silicone spray. It lasts twice, even three times as long and keep the sqeeks away for much longer... I dont think its your springs either. Take apart your demand drive(front hub) and change the oil and use only "Premium Pure Polairs Hub Drive Fluid" Its with a green label on the bottle. You can find it at your dealer. Make sure when you put it back together the armature plate is in line with the cage.. Check ALL the bearings, as one of them might be burned out.

Any other questions PM me!

First of all, thanks for the reply's.

The 4 wheel drive does work and I have not had any problems with it ever not working.

The squeaks are not because I don't grease it. I do service it reguarly which includes greasing it. I know that its not the drive hubs and I have changed the oil in them also. I believe its the front springs and I'll try to use some grease on the tops of them to see if that helps. It squeaks just getting on and off iof it.

I have owned this since 2001 and have not abused it. I have, however used it on our farm alot. The problems don't bother me (except the squeaking) But it has turned some people away from buying it.
I have read that if you unhook the black wire from the rev limiter, it will disable it, but the 4 wheel drive and all will still work. That would help alot because it won't even idle when in reverse without pushing the over ride button. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

If anyone's interested in buying it, send me a pm and we'll chat.

Thanks again!!
