Gio Fuel Filter Fire Hazard
#1
Just noticed something after a long trip with my son on his new Gio 49cc quad...
The guys that built the bike for me didn't route the fuel filter and fuel hose to the proper location, which left the fuel filter lying on the hot cyl head. Didn't notice before, but it has melted right through the plastic filter and was leaking gasoline down the side of the engine! Scared me to think of what might have happened to my six year old if it had ignited, at that age a kid isn't likely to notice if his pantleg is soaked with gas or not.
There is a shield welded onto the upper RH side of the frame, which can protect the filter and provide a spot to tiestrap it out of the way, which I have now done after replacing the filter and hoses.
