I have (including mine) seen 3 Raptor with hi comp pistons all seem to struggle to start. Is that normal? Mine is in need to teardown an assembly but I am wondering if it is attributed to cams and the decompression on the cam gear itself? (All three also had a Stage I cam).

Yes mine was a beotch to start, the decomp doesnt seem to help alot. I upgraded batteries to a much larger unit. I believe a YTX18L-BS or something like that. Now it starts fine, the stock battery was just not up to the task at all. I believe it was a grizzly battery.

My 01 690 has 12:1 compression and it can be tricky to start. Now that i have had mine for a while i can start it easily but if someone esle jumped on and tried to start it they might have a hard time with it.I think a stronger battery like Mr45auto suggested might be a good way to go.
