Default shaving the head on lt80------- stock spark plug?????????

If I shave the head 30 thousand can u still run the stock spark plug. Will 40 thousand make a Diffrence in reliabilty. Awhile back a guy had a head for sale that he shaved down quite a bit and he had to run a diffrent plug and race gas. How far can you go and still be reliable .Would a head that has been shaved so far that u have to run race gas be hard on the motor, and how far would that be? Will we see a increase in power with the 30 off the head or does it help at all ... thanks for the info.

Hi. I dont know about the plug clearance but shaving the head unless your doing other mods as well. I dont feel the trade off having to run high octane gas is worth the trouble unless you are going to race.

I've never done that but some run thin metal type gaskets on the head too.....I would think .030 would make a difference....and the stock plug should work fine....I would compression test before and after.....whatever compression that guy had is prolly to much..IMO

You can shave the head .030 w/o using race gas.
The stock plug can be used but I'd recommend the same plug but w/o the "P". A good plug is the BR8HIX but expensive (12$).
I'll go read your porting thread now.
