Default it understeers like my dads '76 plymouth

I have the original Carlise's it came with. I weigh a modest 210lbs have a winch on the thing. It just feels like the front tires will role off the rims before there is any directional change. Now that I have a pretty good slice in the one I will have to hit my wife up for an advance in my allowance for new tires before a major outing I was wondering if any body had a suggestion for different tires or suspension setup.
