A good friend of mine rides a 2000 Scrambler 500 4x4 and he just went to Glamis for the first time over Thanksgiving weekend. He was disappointed with the power that he had available for hill climbing. He has an aftermarket pipe, a K&N filter, and a clutch kit.

What can he do to significantly improve his power? Are there any shops that specialize in Polaris 4-Stroke motors? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In Dirtwheels mag I found a guy at Ritter Cycle in Illinois, 618-644-3211. I have a SC500 4by and have been talking to them about the best mods. Maybe they can help. It seems there are not too many mods available, but demand equals supply. I am in the same position!!! They were very knowledgeable to my needs....

did this friend of yours notice a big difference in performance over stock with these modifications and was it worth the money to do it?

thanks

rpaske,
Sort of. The first thing we noticed after installing the pipe and clutch kit was that on pavement in 2wd you can pull the front end straight up when you nail the throttle. It seemed to come alive on the test runs, but in real riding it loses it. We probably screwed up by following the dealer's advice that it won't need to be rejetted with these changes. We took it in this weekend to a shop to rejet it and to verify our clutch kit install, as we may have messed that up to. I'll let you know if it changes significantly.

thanks a lot for replying!! im not that impressed with my scramblers power or speed. but compared to other quads i guess it is satisfactory! im also used to the power of my cbr and cr motocrosser so a quad would be a lot slower!! let me know if any changes make a difference!!
thanks
ryan
