06 Foreman 500ES Performance Upgrades
#1
I just bought an 06 Foreman 500es and was wondering what are the best performance upgrades, especially in the power dept.
I added 26" Mudlite XTR's and although they seem to ride very good, I can't pull second gear in any kind of mud. Maybe first gear is the only option but hopefully performance upgrades like a jet kit, pipe and air filter will help.
Lots of info on other quads but not much to be found on the Foreman 500. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Check out HondaForeman.com
Clip the Carb spring. Its free.
Under the seat. 4 screws hold the top of the carb on. Remove them and take out the soft spring. Clip off about 11-13 coils and put the long end back in. Takes about 5 minutes.
Then ride and you will see the difference.

The spring is a good free mod that works. But an HMF pipe and K/N will make them tires turn. The HMF is very loud but makes a bunch of power. Check out atvoutfitters.net. They have some of the best prices.

Go to Ebay and do a search for Honda Rubicon Power Tip. It will replace the spark arrestor, sounds good too. K&N air filter or a Uni. Clip 9 turns off the spring and while you have the top off shim the needle about .020 Ride it check the plug. If it shows lean, you'll have to rejet. Hope you enjoy the new ride.

HMF makes an eco-system pipe that is alot quieter, I run the Evo Big gun. Its got a throaty sound and makes decent power. But isn't nearly as loud as the HMF. All of them are going to be louder. Hopefully some others will offer some advice on other pipes. The ebay tip isn't loud but it won't produce any power gains. Only change the sound.
