The nut and lock nut are both left hand threaded. You were probably trying to turn it, like it was right hand threads.
Welcome to the forums, and i sent you a PM.

How does the C-clip come out that is in the big axlwe nut? Does it have to come out for the nut to move?
I have picked at the clip for 4 hours and can't get it out.

well I know on my ds and im sure its the same way the axle nut is connected to the brake hub and the hub has threads on it and so does the axle nut so just put a large adjustable on it or something to turnin and loosen it with then the whole rearend should become loose and just take everything off accordingly most likely the stuff will not be able to come off the sprocket side

No, the C clip...actually just a round section of wire, comes out after the locknut and adjuster are loose, then the nut assembly comes off that side of the axle once the hub is removed, and then everything slides out. The adjuster and lock nut preload, (and take out the slop and free play), by pressing the wire thats in the groove away from the carrier. Youll see when you get it apart.
Those are some odd size flats on the nuts, and i know some people use a pipe wrench on them, but if you bugger them up too much, they need replacement, and they arent cheap. Youll be lucky if you have a cresent wrench big enough for the lock nut.
You dont need to hold the axle. Just have both back tires on the ground, and use one wrench on the nut, and one on the lock nut, and you should be able to break it loose, and depending on how rusty or crusted with dirt that it is, you should be able to use your fingers from there, to loosen it all the way.
You might want to soak the threaded area in kroil or other penitrant oil, for a while before loosening it. Then clean the threads as best you can with a wire brush, and itll make it go easier.

Ok I understand totaly. The lock nut lossens from the adjuster nut and then the adjuster nut comes off, both left handed threads...

Well after another day of it and a lot of pb breaker and Heat with the torch.
It didn't move.

What next? This buger is laughing at me it is on so tight.

They can be tough, maybe the last person overtightened it by not using a torque wrench.
Are you going the correct way? Remember, these are left hand threads. Go the opposite way, you would if they were right hand threads.

I got the diagram!! Thank you very much.

I had to take it down to my uncles shop and we put some major wieght on it to get it off.
It was VERY hard. Anyway I need a whole new carrier. So I am gonna do a twin wall carrier.

Any good one recommended?

I spent 2 hours cleaning the rust out of everything.

Thanks guys...

Well everyone I was able to get on the 300ex this weekend and ride it for awhile after the new carrier bearing set up. I ended up doing the double bearing setup. It rides real nice now.

Thanks for the help.
