Stock DS Carb on LTZ470(big bore)
#1
I just helped my buddy put a 470 kit on his Z400, and he is now looking into carb options... I was sitting there looking at my stock carb, and started wondering if it would work. I figured if the Predator 500 uses the same carb, and the new build is a 470 it should be close right? Aside from jetting can anyone tell me some good reasons why this would not work. I was initially worried about the airbox vacume issue but I have been running with no airbox for quite a while with no issues. I'm thinking it will be a nice match. Anyone????????

Thanks Choose,
What do you think about shortening the snorkel? Its too long the way it is, and the stock Z snorkel has a wierd shape... it defenitly needs to be straight like the DS one. On a side note I haven't seen you on in a while, you must be hard at work on a super top secret project.

OK... I'm trying to get a carb to intake boot for the BSR42 to the LTZ intake... does anyone know where to get universal or custom sized boots... the LTZ intake is exactly the same size as the BSR42 engine side so its really a straight shot... I'm looking for one that might mate them perfectly or even one that would have the small rib in the middle. Anyone???????

FAT, I've done quite a bit of work on the Suz/Kawi's and you can get the DS stock carb on a Stock Suz intake. Take your dremel and slowly barrel send the intake boot. Trust me... it will go on. We did one of the first Lectron 44's on a stock system. It works. You have to do it to both ends if you are going to use the Suz snorkel. If you are going to use the DS snorkle, you'll have a great deal of difficult trying to get it past that frame bar. That up and over shape is tough and I think one of the worst intake paths on the market. The only good thing about that intake tube is that it's fairly rigid. You'll notice that the stock intake boot from the manifold has two angles into it. You might try flipping it and then on to the carb. This may clear up the path in order to use the stock DS tube.
Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.
