In that price range you are probally going to be looking at a 400ex. Might find a nice z400/kfx 400 in that range and this would be my choice.

I would shop on more what you can find in your range in good shape and look at these quads.

400ex
z400
kfx 400
dvx 400
predator

All would be good so see what you can find in the best condition.

Good luck

Reverse is a luxury, nice but not needed. You can certainly find a 400EX or possibly a Z or Raptor in that price range. The Z would get my pick for best overall trail quad, but all have some benefits over the others. Find a nice clean one you can afford, and don't look back.

300EX.......maybe the best tight trail quad of all time! Mid size, nimble, and maneuverable.

400EX or Z400. I prefer the EX because it has a motor that doesn't mind being lugged down, and ridden slow in technical stuff. I pick the Z for faster, more open trails.

250EX. Good if you are in a lot of water (shaft drive). Mid size and very maneuverable, like the 300. Excellent in very technical terrain. Not as well suspended as the above machines.

Best all-around machine to ride anywhere, probably the Z.

Agree about reverse. Don't worry about it. Most quads that don't have it are probably going to be light enough that you will be able to just lift the back end up to move it around.

Do a 180 or run part way up a hill and use gravity or use a little muscle power. There have been times where I was able to turn around w/o reverse faster than riders that were using reverse.
