Raptor title question???
#1
Hello everyone I am new to the forum and I have a question. I am thinking of buying a Raptor 660 but only to convert it to street use. I read that everyone says in order to do that the title cannot say "for off-road use only". If anyone who owns a Raptor could tell me if their titles for them say that. Thanks

There never was a title specifically. Mine, when bought new, came with a certificate of origin. Looked a lot like a title but, isn't a title. I then took it to the DMV and I was issued a transferrable registration. I will never see a title for the Raptor.
I am not sure where you are located but, in New York, getting a quad legal for the road is impossible. In order to qualify as a motorcycle, it needs to have 3 wheels or less. If there are 4 or more wheels, it qualifies as an automobile. Therefore, it must adhere to all of the safety standards of a car.
Am I making sense to anyone but myself? I do that sometimes.

Matt

No you make perfect sense. I know that in Colorado that ATVs don't have titles ether. But in my state North Dakota they do. I have wanted to make a quad street legal for quite some time. I have even talked to a legislator about getting the law changed. I recently took a trip to South Dakota and i saw a 400ex riding down the street in the middle of town with a bunch of rockets. In South Dakota the law stats that you can legalize an ATV if it has a mirror, brake/tail light, horn, license plate light, insurance, and granted that the title does not say for off-road use only. So i am hoping that ND law is about the same. That 400ex even had off-road tires still on it. Anyone have a Raptor with a title? I guess i could just call the local motorsports shop and ask them. But i would still like to hear any input.

I called the Highway patrol today inquiring about legalizing an ATV for street use. They told me they would have to get back to me because "this has never came up before". He told me he would get back to me on Thursday. Its gonna take him 2days?

In AZ we have titles and you can make your atv legal for street use be adding a horn, parking/brake light, mirror, plate, insurance. My is atv street legal, but I don't drive on the street that much. I guess that it depends on your state, AZ is pretty lack.
