Might get an Outlander today?

Gonna head down to the local dealer here today, they are pretty small time and I've seen they have the typical "set up/freight" fees tacked on to their MSRP but are running a local ad "blowout sale"......would prefer to keep my business local but only willing to compromise a few hundred $$$, if they want full MSRP+tax/freight/set up then I'm not going to bother, I know I can get one OTD for MSRP but gonna have a 2+ hr drive each way + gas. Let me see what the local guy will do for me first though.

Hey Mike, keep us posted on how you make out with that. I had an 800xt for about a week(wrecked it), and am getting a new one when the paper work gets done. I feel the same way(now), about the freight/shipping and set up. I'm gonna try(not real good at negotiation), to get the dealership to eat that cost and save about $1500. Any advise on negotiating price would be helpful for those of us that are intimidated about dickering price.

Try this site, I ordered a sheet for a DS and got some good info and saved about $1500. They don't call em a stealer for nothing.

A few factors go into your final OTD price such as registration and taxes. Typically a general rule of thumb I've found is that if you can get OTD(tax, lic. etc) for MSRP then you've done pretty well. You'll find some places selling even cheaper but that doesn't include your state sales tax.
To update: I looked, they had ONE green <ughh> 650 base model. Prices were MSRP+tax+doc fee+$700"freight/assembly"aka mark up. Very small mom and pop shop that doesn't move much if any merchandise, mostly a repair shop that stocks ski doo, sea doo and can am on the side. If I asked for MSRP OTD they would have probably thought I was crazy. Besides, I don't want green......red or yellow only. Sure wish they had a black though.

What Outy do you want? 650 ok if you don't ride mtns imo. I ride lots of rocks so got the 800. Got 1900 miles, 125 hrs, no problems, none.
Skids a must because of the flimsy spar rail in front unprotected. Most guys get ricochets.

The 650 will go anywhere. A rock trail going up a mtn without any dirt to be seen was what I was talking about.
You probably know this, but the XT comes with 26" Carlisle ACT's. I've got 1900 rocky miles on mine, they're still ok. I've used the winch about 4 times goin' where I shouldn't abeen goin'. The standard will wheelie better if that's a priority. XT will too, just doesn't scare ya as bad the first time.

Well neither of my riding partners are equipped for a trail like that anyway so we stay away from them LOL. My buddy got stuck in some real deep dust/dirt, almost all the way to the top of the trail, had to turn around and go back all the way down, oh well. Dirtbike rider had just crashed coming down in it, had to coast his bike the rest of the way down.

Man that's scary turnin' around on a hill like that. Just ***** to the wall and hope for the best.
Keep us posted with how the Outy buy is going. I can turn you onto a thread that has 'what every Outy buyer should know' if you want, by pm. It's a long list but nothing serious, nothing that would keep me from buying my bike all over again. In fact, I don't think I've had any of the probs on the list except skids.
Are the Broncos still the big rivalry or is it the Chiefs now?

When I go to buy I get the OTD price at as may dealerships as I can find across the country as I can. I go my local dealer and go talk turkey. He'll match them or he won't. I'll have a truck driving buddy buy one for me somewhere else or I'll drive somewhere else and get it. I won't screw around with BS freight and set up fees and jibber jabber. I want OTD price. He'll match what I can get it somewhere else or come withing a few bucks or I'll go somewhere else. Case closed. I'm not into the dickering and haggling game like some used car dealer. I'm dropping down cash money on something and not screwing around with financing I want to talk business. I have zero tolerance for salesmen who start yanking my chain and busting my delicate organs over prices and going through their antics. I'll just walk out and go on down the road. I have a low threshold for that crap.
