Default Thoughts on 800 ground clearance

I'm seriously looking at trading in my '02 Traxter XT up to the Outlander 800 XT (waiting back on two quotes). I think I've done enough homework on the 800 and it looks like the machine to be getting.
Does anyone have any comments (pro or con) on ground clearance? I generally use my current bike (the Traxter) for general criusing and moose hunting, and still have had too many problems hanging up. Mud..forget it.
Anyway, any comments re ground clearance on the 800 would be much appreciated.
For now,
Rod

Default Thoughts on 800 ground clearance

Well this week I decided to crawl under to measure the toe. I slid under from the foot board and ended up sliding out from the front. I'm not a small guy at 5'6 and 220ish lbs. There's some good clearence there...

They advertise 12", haven't seen one yet. 9"-10" more like it. BRP: 'We do not have an issue with ground clearance'. No, they don't.

BRP sucks on this issue. Numerous complaints on the 06's, then they put out the 07's with the same front springs. There are some customer fixes, one of them being put another set of XT rear short springs up front. Shouldn't cost you if the dealer is decent.

I wouldn't have any other quad even with my 9" gc, but BRP is a bottom feeder mfr when it comes to stepping up.

Figure another $300 on ricochet skid plates or never go near a rock! The spar beam they talk about sliding over a log, what a flimsy piece of crap up front. Hit one rock good and it's trashed. Still I won't trade, just fix stuff myself, but that don't mean I like it or there's no hard feelings.
