Banshee crankshaft durability ?
#1
To forum,
I have found a 96' banshee in good condition for a fair price, fresh top-end, pipes, garage kept,etc...... but the lower-end has never been touched, should I steer clear of this banshee or are the lower-ends rock solid, I dont have much experience with 2-smokes that is why Im asking, Thanks

My buddy has a 96 shee, hes never done anything to the lowend and it runs great. So my guess is no for the prolbems. Yes for the purchase. Yet another 4-poke falls

It's probably ok.If sounds really noisy in the bottom end then it may have a problem.
Swapping out the crank with a new one or just getting the crank rebuilt isn't really as a big deal as it might seem.

Thanks for all the reply's , but I have decided not to buy the quad for several reason's,
(1) if the quad needed to be rebuilt, I dont have the time
(2) I have heard many bad thing's about banshee's chewing up crankshaft's. (just hear-say though)
(3) A 2-stroke is bad for the invironment. (probably should use biodegradable 2-stroke oil?)

Chewing up cranks? What kind of BS is that.
The Banshee bottom end is extremely durable. (along with the heavy duty tranny..... etc)
My 97 Shee's bottom end has never seen light and is solid as a rock.
I doubt there is a quad motor out there that could stand up to more HP on the stock internals than the Banshee' twin.

2. All quads chew up crankshafts, you just have to make sure to mix your oil correctly. (In the banshees case)
3. Its environment and its not that bad. The people that make the laws protecting the environment do more damage to it than banshees do. (example, all the paperwork to get rid of shees uses trees, them driving to work burns gas, wears tires, uses oil.....)

1. how do you have time to ride a quad and not work on it?
And as far as the invironment concerned REDLINE make's biodegradable racing 2-stroke oil .
You guy's replyed alittle too late I have already passed the deal up, if I would have known I would have bought the quad........Dang.
