Mx banshee advice....
#1
This past friday I saw to my first quad MX race and im hooked now. I will seek counsuling when im done dumping money into my quad.
Just wondering what upgrades i should make to the make it a mx shee without having to run race gas. I was thinking about rocketpipes, shaved head .020 (could i run 94 oct with this?), reeds, then all suspension stuff from there. And nerfs too. Just wanted some input from you guys on what you thought. I think im gunna stick with the holdshot HD's for the mx track too. Other than them being a little big I they they will work great.

Suspension will the biggest thing, defintely get extended a-arms, shocks, extended axle, and i'd also recommend getting some stronger tie rods and ends like the honda-style kits on trailtracksand.com, yamaha tie rods and ends love to bend and break. I'd also recommend getting a good all-around exhaust for your shee to help keep the shifting to a minimum, and maybe get a couple different sized front sprockets to experiment with what works best for you. Personally I like to run higher than stock gearing for MX, but the banshee is a completely different animal than my warrior. I know you say you want to stay with your HD's, but a smaller lighter tire will make a big difference on the track.

I would reccomend the following....
Front suspension: long travel arms with heim steering and shocks.
Rear, round housing stock length swingarm, upgraded shock. Wider axle.
Tires: 19"front, 18" rear.
Motor: Toomey T5s, or FMF Fattys. Do a stage 2 port, rejet the carbs, and do a Toomey 2:1 intake.
That should get you in the game. You may find other mods necessary, but thats your call.

Anyone know about the shaved heads with 94 oct gas?
What do you mean by dont bore and go for porting?
What size a-arms are race legal? I think its 52 inches is that +2 or +3?
What axle and a-arms do you guys reccomend?
Im just going to the track on practice days im not going to compete as of yet. Just want something to do other than trails. I like all the suspension ideas.

one thing .. dont go with rocket (drag) pipes..
i know they look sick as **** but they make power on the top end...ur gonna need some low end grunt to race mx
just somthing to think about
definatly go with +2 +1 (or +3+1) a arms from a decent company and (if u have the $$) some nice elkas
man then ud be set

What are some of the companys that make shock and a-arm kits other than elka? I was looking at the elka's and they are nice as hell.
Anyone know the answer to my 94 octane with the shaved head question?
