does anyone have any suggestions on step by step directions on removing the rear outer cv joint. The dealer says to pinch the recessed ring together and pull it off however it doesn't seem like the ring can be compressed any more against the axle bar and you cant spread it apart. A friend told me to tap the joint off using a rubber mallet. Totally confused can anyone help out it doesn't seem like that be of a job....

 

The ring can be compressed a little. I use side cuts, to do it, althgh I am not good enough to do it without damaging the ring. when you compress it you wll be able to "UNHOOK" the ring from each other. Good luck!
