When I opened my new atv action,I've got some big thumper raptor staring me in the face. I read the story and evedentally they have $3,000 invested. That brings the total price to around $9,000. Why spend that much when you could put that into a 250r and the R would be so much faster on the tracks. I don't care what any raptor owners say the R would be faster around any type of track.

The crazy fourtrax 250r riders selling there R for a raptor are doing so to ride the R in the dunes. Most are. The R is a purpose built racer, period. Not some general purpose thumper. Us loyal two-stroke fans can get the R's for a great deal and start bagging raptors. By the way, Sunday I finally saw a raptor owners upper left a-arm bend. All he did was come down from a third gear wheelie and, bend. It bent to where the steering was totally meesed up and it looked like a banana. Now all I have to do is see a swingarm bend and I'll be satisfied.

Why do people do this all the time. WHO CARES!!! A quad is a quad, some better in their own ways. All i know is i would rather have my banshee over both of them becuase it suits me best. Just like the raptor or the R might suit someone better. so just grow up.

The issue doesn't feture a ds 650 in that story. I am still reading it so I don't know if it is any where else in the issue.
I will stop carring on about the 250r if the raptor riders will addmit the raptor is not the best machine ever and it is not the fastest at mx, and crosscountry. The raptor is better at dune riding, desert and probly flat track. There I did my share of admitting. It just makes me mad that they are deniying that the 250r is faster around the mx and cross country track. They say it might be or isn't but it is faster. And I will go to all levels to prove it. Go to the dirtwheels and atv action picture galleries and one has a picture of a raptor doing a double and in a story they said it bottomed, now that could be the way he landed. I don't know though.

hotfmf,
You need a reality check.
No one cares which quad is faster (well some do), a quad is a quad, preference is preference, some quads are better than others.
You say the 250R is the king of quads (not exactly your words but thats what your pointing at) at tracks and such, then you go off and talk about the raptor bottoming on a double, um, hello...most 250's are highly modified, and the raptor is stock.

I dont care what people ride or how much they brag about it, more power to you, im happy with what I have.

JUST RIDE IT

People are ditching there 2-strokes because the states are making it hard to ride them (emissions)in any area. From what I hear from a friend if a machine is newer than 98 you cant even get the sticker you need to ride leagly in CA. 4-strokes on the other hand are no problem. Times are changeing just be happy that the sport is alive again

Take it from an x 250r owner 1986. The trx250r is a hard bike to beat. I now own a RAptor 660r Blue. Let me break it down for ya

1) The 250r was the best handling quad and probably still is to this day
2) It had the best 2 stroke engine, would eat quadracers for breakfast
3) 2 stroke+high maintence+whole seasons sitting in the garage=aggravation=less riding time=less fun

Now the raptor
1) Lets see, Extremely fast
2) Very good handling, not the best..remember this IS a 660 we are talking about
3) 4 stroke=less maintence=more RIDING time=MORE FUN
4) Electric start
5)reverse

I am not going to lie and say that i don'tmiss my 250R..i do or at least i did. With a few modifcations to the raptor though ( extended axle and some wider a-arms) i will be much happier. However i am only making those changes for mx purposes. If i were to ride the woods all day i would leave it bone stock. It is a little top heavy so sometimes i find myself really hanging off the seat. And you have to love the push button start and the reverse as well. and yes i beat several banshees..and yes they were modifed. one more thing after steeping off the raptor and on to an R recenlty. i said to myself "Gee this bike feels outdated"

2001 blue Raptor
white bros pipe
yamaha shock covers
past bikes i have owned
250r 1986
lt250r 1986
lt250r 1989

ride it till your thumb falls off!!!!!!
