Default polaris predator 90cc and 50cc

I have a 50 cc polaris predator for my son. the electric start stopped working. i've learned that you have to kick start it and press the electric start button at the same time to get it going. haven't had the time to find out the fix for this. just figured something was wrong. well i just bought him a 2003 90 cc polaris predator and i picked it up on friday. we went riding on sunday and like all children didn't listen to me to stay out of the water..but that's what kids do..anyhow, it was starting like a champ prior to us riding. then mid day the problems started...the electric start wont crank it over. was this because it got to wet? is it a simple replacement of the starter relay...please help...email me if you need more detail....bryguy1822@yahoo.com any help is greatly appreciated. i thought is was a fluke but now that both of his atv's do it it's something he's doing wrong..mud, water, something...thanks in advance...

I have a 50 and a 90 predator and when you kick them over you don't have to hold in the starter button. You just kick it like a normal bike and it should start up. Don't know if you are doing any damage while holding the button in while you are kickstarting it.

Default polaris predator 90cc and 50cc PROBLEMS help!!!

We have not had the Pred in deep water. But our Raptor 50 did this exact thing. I did the usual checks, charge the battery, jumped the relay to check the starter and volt tested the relay. What it ended up being was the snap connection for the wires between the relay and the starter. There was a bunch of "grime and sand" in the connection. I cleaned the connection really well and put some dielectric grease in there and have not had a single problem since.

I would do several things. First charge the battery. Clean all the snap connections for the wires and grease them. Turn on the ignition and jump the starter relay to see if the starter engages. You should hear the starter relay "click" when hitting the starter button. And like AFROracing stated take the starter switch assembly apart and clean it. The last one was a problem on my JetMoto once.

Hope one of these help.

Default polaris predator 90cc and 50cc PROBLEMS help!!!

My son has an '05 Predator 90 that is giving us the same problem.
It kickstarts fine, but won't start electrically.
I removed the starter, and it turns, but when reinstalled, it barely turns the engine.
I too am going to try the remedies above and will list all of the details of the Troubleshooting Process for those that may need it in the future.

Default polaris predator 90cc and 50cc PROBLEMS help!!!

ok here's what i got....

for the 50cc polaris - I get a clicking sound when trying to start it. tried to jump start it and that didn't do no good. figure i'm going to have to replace the battery on that one. by cleaning the starter do you mean where the starter button is on the handlebars? take that apart and dry it out, clean it, etc.... sorry, i'm learning to work on these...

for the 90cc - i think the problem is more then i can handle. I went to kick start it and the kick start stuck in the down position. I don't know much about atv's but i do know that's BAD!!...Anyone know what i'm up against. I can only imagine....and this one also is not starting with the electric start.

Why me???

As far as the 50's clicking it sounds like the solenoid, follow the red wire from the battery you should find a box that it connects to with the other red wire going toward the starter, try and jump the connectors (crossing the 2 red wires) at that box, if it starts then the solenoid is bad.. .
