I just got the gun boot mount and it came with a bolt and lock nut. I see the hole it's supposed to be in and figure it has something to do with holding the bungee, but I just can't figure it out and the directions are kinda poor and vague. Thanks for your help!!

 

Yep, it holds the lower portion of the bungee cord to the mount/bracket.
