Outlander Baja 1000 Edition
#1
In my pictures are some scans from the November Dirtwheels where they test the Can-Am that is similar to what will be raced at the Baja 1000. Much different than last year, plus a couple of pics of new products...Maxxis RAZR's in 25 and 26" styles as well as Bilstein getting into the ATV market. For those that don't know, Bilstein has more off road shock experience than anyone, except maybe FOX, and I hear their prototypes are unbelieveable!

Another unbiased opinion from CAL I see.
If either of you had a clue as to what actually happend to cause problems last year, not to mention the R&D they have been doing to minimize possible failures, you would be surprised as to how well this thin will do.
The key is that Can-Am is dedicated to this project. It is their choice, and if someone wants to run a DS, that's their choice.

Can-am tried to blame its unsucessful race of outlanders last year on a bad batch of tires to the atv public. When in reality it was transmission troubles/failures that kept them from completing the race. They had a million dollar support/race team including helicopters, ect. and they want to blame it on tires?! lol
I really do like Can-am/brp including the Outlander 800. They have some great innovations, just need to stick to the true baja racer...The DS

TPR I am aware of what happen last year at the Baja 1000. But how much R&D money has Can-AM put in too that machine and it still get beat by a 450 all the time. If a rider has the talent he can buy a 450 + part’s over the counter and go out beat that 680 lbs one of machine. The only way it will win if all the top 450's break down. the R&D has help Can-Am for next year CNCC with the Renegade. It should rule the Ute class but a desert racer it is not. It might due ok in the Dakar.

I'm sorry if neither of you were present during the last 1000 and don't know the whole story. It is all to easy to criticize from afar, or get incorrect information from people that think they know what they are talking about.
Did Can-Am want a better result last year? Yes. Remember this, there has been a full year of race testing, breaking things, causing things to fail, that will allow them to be ready for any situation.
Remember, as opposed to a 450 class quad, there are a number of new and different elements that they have had to run into and rectify. Heck, they Baja races were the reason they discovered the rectifier issues the DS had and they lost races because of that too.
If they succeed, then great, if they fail, then that is the result, but the idea to try new things and make strides forward is the way of the leader.
I'll talk more after the race.
