I will buy you dinner and a movie and accomodations for the night here in Montreal, Canada if you can tell me were I can get a cdi box, module for my stock 2003 (I think.. first 4 letters LAWS) Baja motorsports Ba 250 2 wd atv that uses the vog engine and has a 6 pin CDI (has only 5 being used) Linhai-type cdi box.
I need the pin out diagram for this box also because the support on this bike bites!!
I might get divorced because of this machine..so please help!! Can I convert to a Linhai scooter ..cdi plus stator combo??? it's more common and WHY when I see yamaha linhai stators..they different ods and ids? my current cdi had 6 pins and all the stuff that I see is 8 pins..some rare Liinhai cdis (Roketa etc) have 6 and I know because I have bought one before and it still was a no spark situation.
So after all that, does anyone know wher I can get a cdi box for my ba 250 machine with 170 lbs compression????????????????

 

Does it not use the standard GY6 CDI? Those sell for about $5 on Ebay. My Lifan 200 bike, Zongshen (Roketa) 200 bike, and Taotao ATA250D quad all use the 6 pin CDI and all use only 5 wires. Before doing anything I would unplug the kill wire from the CDI and check for spark.

thanks for the reply but as I stated my machine from hell has a VOG engine based on the Yamaha yp250 series.
The engine is used in the Linhai Majesty 250cc scooter and many othe scooters that go by different names..Tank,Roketa among others.
My issue is( I have many, but that's personal Ha) I cannot find for the life of me a stock Baja Motorsports compatible cdi. It has 6 PINs, NOT 8 , 4 by 3 inches , flat, black and uses only 5 out of the 6 pins. DC STATOR!!
I ordered a cdi for a linhai roketa( same as Turista 250cc Diamo Gator 300 etc), but I still had no spark with my ORIGINAL Baja Motorsports stator.
So now I want to order a stator that fits a Linhai or Roketa, Turista etc.
I need either a Linhai stator, figure out why I fried the cdi, get an oem cdi or blow this thing up.
Anyone have a good idea?

Does anyone have a pinout wiring diagram for my evil atv or better yet a diagram of what every pin does on a 8 pin flat box cdi that I see so many of?
Maybe I can adapt an common 8 pin cdi box to my original stator, which I thick is a 18 pole 3 phase stator. I was told the cdi needs a positive pulse and a negative pulse,ground,12v,kill switch.
Can I hot wire this thing???

Are you sure you got the right CDI? AC vrs DC. 6 pin on ebay are all over the place and very easy to get the wrong one

 

Do you have the original old one handy? I can unmount mine and see what the part number is. Here is a pic of mine when i first got the quad. Not sure if this is the rectifier or cdi in the pic.

You might want to give this place a call, but I have also heard bad stuff about them as well. Talk to them directly, but take a screenshot of the ad prior to calling them. I found that I called them on a part and then next time I went to the site, he raised the price like 300%.

Got to be very carfull when ordering off ebay. Some of the sellers just post any pic of a CDI not realizing i think their is a difrence between AC/DC units
