$40 Skid's for Outlander
#1
Well I finally got my aluminum cut for my generic skid plates. I'll put a picture on my pic page. Wasn't too complicated, mainly just getting everything lined up and holes drilled properly, you'll probably notice I was off a couple of times LOL.
I had one sheet of aluminum cut 72"x12"........I had the last 9" cut only 10" wide but probably could have just left it 12" wide after installing it, was a waste of two cuts I just wanted it to fit the plastic one that was stock.
The sheet across the floorboards is 42"x17". I had to cut the back in about two inches in order to bend the aluminum so I could bolt it below the trailer ball. Looked a little funky cause of how I cut the metal so I painted it black to blend in with the quad, I don't think it looks all that bad??
Anyway, this is a pretty inexpensive way to add a little protection to the bottom of the quad without spending $300. It doesn't look "custom" but it's also almost entirely concealed under the quad so who really cares? IF it gets beat up too bad I can always have another one cut out of a little thicker aluminum.

YES, in a hearbeat.
I'm considering A-arms since they should be easy enough to make.

darn I may have to consider that in the future then thanks I really like what I hear about it and have 2 racing quads but I need a ute back in my lineup thanks. I think epic racing makes some unless you are going to fab some yourself.

Well I've tweaked my "skids". I had to make sure I could still get this thing off even if the bolts underneath take abuse and can't be turned. I spent a couple of hours and have it taken care of. I think I'm going to reinforce the front plate with another layer of aluminum.
