Stock ste up works fine for mine, i can stand mine up going to second and go all the way to fifth on the back tires with no problem its just it makes you think twice about doing it again. I rode my friends 01 400 and the only thing different is he has stiffer suspension but his has alot bigger balance point, i mean mine you have to have it just right to walk it but his as soon as it comes up it hits the ballance point.

I guess so man, thats the only thing different beside motor mods that he has maybe his sits a hair lower when they are parked side by side but i mean you can hit second dump the clutch and roll back with it and just lean back and just hold the throttle down and bump through the gears like a hot knife through butter even with 2 people. now my 05 on the other hand you cant just keep the throttle at any steady rate, you have to bump the throttle to stay in its balance point and shift gears, its also easier to walk standing up and leaning back at the same time. go figure it stumps me!! but i think at the time his was brand new i think his got the easiest to wheelie award by one of the atv magazines, and next was the 300ex.

the 400 have an awesome balance point. my friend wheelied his for like 2 miles or something like that... but now he has a 450r and he can still do that too. so some of it has to be the rider and some of it is the bike....

since u guys seem 2 know a lot about 400 ex's nd 450r's, ive gat a question. do u think a 400 ex bored out ta a 440 would do against a kx 250 w/ a fmf fatty on it? ita a recent challenge from one of my friends. also, im getting a 13 t sprocket to replace my 12 t sprocket. will that help in the drag? i own the kx 250

Well a friend of mine has a crf 250 and he can only keep up with mine and they are both stock, so yes i would say the kx will be walked on. plus he dont have to worry about his tire coming out from uder him, thats where i beat those biker boys everytime just lean dump the clucth and bust it side ways and leave them in my dust trail.

The CRF250 (4 stroke) is more like a KX125 (2 stroke) than a KX250 (also 2 stroke). The KX will walk all over you. The power of a 450r in the weight of a bike. To get more quickness or low end power, go down on the front sprocket or up on the rear. (more or less teeth that is) OR use smaller rear tires. To gain more speed, go up on the front sprocket or down on the rear. OR run taller tires. In my area, almost everyone drops a tooth on the front as soon as they get their quad. We have lots of hills and very tight woods and top speed is not a worry. How often do you really ride wide open in high gear for any period of time?
